bout the Nuptse:
The Nuptse (pronounced "Nep' tuse") is named after the Nuptse mountain in the Jhumbu region of the Mahalangur Himal, in the Nepalese Himalayas. It lies two kilometers WSW of Mount Everest. Nuts is Tibetan for "west peak", as it is the western segment of the Lactescent massif. The summit of Nuptse is extremely dangerous due to loose snow with a lot of hollows, and there are also weakly attached cornices of snow. This provides a barrier to climbing, yet is not sturdy enough for safe climbing. For more information about Nuptse mountain, visit:

Nuptse Style and Dimensions:
This pen is similar in style to the NAZCA. It was first made as a special order and re-sized from the original NAZCA. But although the overall shape looked much like the Nazca, it's shorter (6") and it didn't have that hallmark TALL finial anymore. It was suppose to be a JR, but didn't have the Jr clip either. So after getting additional requests for the pen, I decided to break it out and give it it's own name. The most prominent feature of the Nuptse is the multiple accent bands placed throughout the pen. The pen has a overall length of 5.75" to 6" depending on the number and layout of the cap bands. The pen can be ordered with the bands in multiple configurations, and with your choice of standard clip finishes (24k gold, chrome, or Gunmetal (aka black chrome). It comes fitted with a#6 nib in your choice of finishes. Nib finishes available for STEEL nibs are: 2-tone, polished steel, Black Oxide (#6 only), or Ruthenium (#5 only). Current tip sizes are x-fine, fine, medium, broad, and two italics (1.1 both; 1.4 for #5 only, and 1.5 for #6 only). 14 & 18K Gold nibs are also available as a special order.

Nuptse Options and Upgrades:
Since the Nuptse is already loaded with accent bands, it doesn't require any hardware upgrades. But you could upgrade it with a custom inking system such as a piston or button filler. While the standard Nuptse is made as a cartridge/converter, the blind cap made to install the band on the end of the barrel is threaded, and it can easily be drilled out and fitted with the parts for a Button-filler. You also may want to consider adding a 14k or 18k gold nib.

I also offer a variety of hand-made Pen Props and Pen Buttons. You can order a Pen Prop in a material to match your pen, or any one of the wooden styles made in a variety of stained or dyed colors. The Pen Buttons are available for any of the clipless pens.

About this Material:

This material is one of the fairly new acrylics offered for pens call Alumilite, and in a series called "Lava Explosion". The color is called "Fire Lake". I guess it's so named because the maker thought it brought to mind fire at the lake? To me, I think of Van Gough's painting titled Starry Night. It has a similar swirl pattern and mix of colors as the painting.
