About JEBs Loa Fountain Pen

The Loa is similar in style to the Jannu. So at first glance, you may think they’re the same pen. But there are a few differences. The Loa uses the same material for all the parts instead of the secondary accent color the Jannu uses on some of the parts. Another difference is the section style. The Jannu has a collar-style section, whereas the Loa has a pinched style. However, they both use the same tear-drop-style clip.

The Loa is named after Mauna Loa, one of the many mountains on the island of Hawaii. Mauna Loa is also a volcano and is said to be the largest mountain on Earth in terms of volume. Since this round-top pen has one of the largest diameter caps of all my styles, along with a nice wide, rounded finial, I thought the name was appropriate.

The Loa is like the Kea on steroids. The length is just under 6″, but it has a much larger diameter. The finial and barrel end have a nice, rounded shape. It has stepped threads and a pinched-style section.

The Loa is another pen style that allows for a few upgrade options. See the categories below for the various options.

Material: The Loa can be ordered in any of the materials shown or the material of your choice. If you need help selecting material, just let me know. I can supply a list of links for material suppliers. I also have a supplier that can make custom alumilite colors. Besides acrylic, I also offer Ebonite and natural wood. Please note that natural wood pens use acrylic for the threads.

Hardware: Standard clip finishes are usually 24k gold and chrome. Other finishes, such as rhodium or gunmetal, pop up from time to time. So if you’re looking for something different, please check in to see what is available.

You can add metal accent bands at various locations on the pen, such as on the section or cap finial, for just a little touch of flash. You can add one or several to the base of the cap, or add a blind-cap and band to the end of the barrel. I have smooth 24k gold bands in a variety of diameters with widths from 1 to 4 mm.

Nib: Standard nib is #6 steel Jowo. Current finishes available are polished steel (PS) and all-gold steel (AGS). Other finishes are available from time to time, so if you’re looking for something unique, check in to see what may be available. 14k and 18k gold nibs are also available. Current tip sizes for steel nibs are x-fine, fine, medium, broad, and 1.1 & 1.5 italic.

Inking system: Standard inking system is C/C (cartridge/converter). Upgrade systems currently available are eyedropper, button filler, bulb filler, or vacumatic.
